Unreasonably fantastic
I've been using Concepts for years now, during which time it's evolved from "oh, that'southward prissy" to an absolutely essential role of my workflow. My main use of Concepts is for various kinds of technical sketching/drafting purposes. Everything from concept drawings for projects destined for the workshop and/or CAD, pattern drafting circuitous fiber arts piece of work, and much more. I'thou not a production visual artist; rather Concepts is my first-stop design studio. Every bit such, Concepts' infinite canvas, layers, and vector-vs-pixel based model are the key features that brand my work a joy. With the space canvas, I can seamlessly work and sketch on related ideas & drawings, then rearrange and/or export what I need for inclusion in other documents. Layers are a gigantic timesaver, making it easy to select, duplicate, and change various "slices" of my piece of work, allowing easy correction of mistakes, development of ideas, and eliminating lots of tedious redrawing. Likewise, the vector model plays into the layer support, making it straightforward to select, group, and edit individual artifacts. All that's the tip of the iceberg. As you get further into it, so many features come together to make your work better and faster. How virtually a *tiny* bit of smoothing to clean up my janky line piece of work? Or crank smoothing to 100% for minute to get ruler-straight lines without even having to break out the "Precision" tools.
Limited text handling
I've been using Concepts five with the purchased Essentials pack for 24 hours at present to work out a design for a Spider web site. Having an space size canvas is wonderful! The cartoon tools are not bad, though certainly no more than then than other superb apps like Tayasui Sketches. And the tutorial videos are as well great, though they could benefit from being more than seize with teeth-size like the 2 - 4 minute tutorials for Serif'southward Affinity Photo, Designer and Publisher apps. A huge plus for Concepts seems to be that they have a business model which enables significant ongoing evolution of the app. Having said that withal, what I had hoped for in Concepts —given the idea development nature of the app— was, in add-on to the cool drawing tools, to have better text handling. For instance, it actually needs text flow wrap within a resizable text box, and the ability to choose a font — the basic cmd-t functions of other apps would be a huge step forward even if there were no user-defined text styles. Maybe i'm non understanding some things, so if I notice that I've misunderstood the text features, then I'll edit this review. Finally, i want to say that I'g not interested in subscription apps, so if Concepts had not provided accept the one-time purchase options, I would not have bothered with it.
It's missing so many features
There are practiced things I can say well-nigh this app and not and so great things. I love the versatility, the ability to upload photos, images and the power to create colour palette. I actually dear the ability to take colors from other places to create color palette. I hate that there is no rainbow graduation bike to choose colour from. If y'all don't like their colour choices, you have to go find an image with the color palette yous want, upload them, create your palette and so get rid of the images if you don't want them and a lot of the time artists already know exactly what shade they are after and but want to get to a cycle and choose. This is fourth dimension consuming and time is coin. I detest that there is no "snap" pick for guidelines or shapes to lock onto filigree lines or to lines on your work and if your tool or fingers move even the tiniest bit, they get knocked out of identify and it really makes any kind of precision work or piece of work impossible. You really tin't line anything up to make a perfectly straight line. When you change the composition of a shape past moving out the corners, any other shape you cull will concur that new limerick. Also not desirable. It doesn't snap dorsum into shape. Y'all take to painstakingly reshape it by hand and promise y'all get it right. When you are don't using a shape tool, it doesn't recover its original shape. Honestly this affair is and then many headaches that I am looking for other options.
